Our walk with God

How are you currently doing in your walk with God? Is your heart right or are you slightly worn and strained by life’s pressures.

A few months ago we had to replace our shower head. This was a relatively new piece of pipe, yet it had corroded. Why? Well, I don’t know. Some things are beyond our knowledge and we can waste valuable time chasing answers to them instead of just accepting them. The corroded pipe still worked, as the damage was only surface damage. The boiler tripped the electrics. Why? Well, the thermostat failed. The thermostat is the heart of the boiler system and if it is broken, the system is not going to work.

When the heart of any system is broken nothing works – not even the defective pipework.

When our hearts are not overflowing with seeking God, the corrosion sets into our Christianity and then moves to different parts within our spiritual bodies. This corrosion dirties our hearts and minds like the corroded pipe discoloured the water. The corrosion in the pipe started without even being noticed. Like all corrosion, you don’t even become aware of it until dirty water starts to flow all over your body from the shower head.

How do we stop this? Well, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 3:5 – “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realise this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?”

So right now, have a look inside yourself. Is what you see right or do you need a word with your heavenly plumber? He has the living water on tap to restore you to an uncorroded free flowing system of life!

As Christians, we need the fresh flowing refreshing spirit of God to keep us free from those corroding parts that can so easily come into our hearts. The truth of the matter is that we do have the victory in Christ. We can enjoy life much more when Christ is put plumb centre in our lives every day. Amen!
